A friend first showed me Sozo as a cool place to study. At the time, I was working remotely and taking all online classes, so I was getting tired of being at home all the time. Sozo felt like a safe, welcoming place to get work done.

Coincidentally, during my second week going there, I came in on a Tuesday. I didn’t realize they closed early for Bible study, but I had already shown up with my Bible in hand, planning to read after finishing some homework. As everyone else was leaving, Chad came up to me and let me know there was a Bible study happening and invited me to join.

Ever since then, I’ve really enjoyed the community and being around believers from different denominations, backgrounds, and experiences. That community has helped me grow in my faith and strengthen my commitment to living a Christ centered life.

I first learned about Sozo through a friend who had gotten plugged into the summer volleyball nights. She shared about the Tuesday night Bible study and asked be to come with her-of course I said yes!

Walking into Sozo and seeing people around my age eager to learn about Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him make me so giddy (and still does). The Bible studies and discussions are a great experience because they’re structured as conversations where everyone is welcome to share their thoughts. This often leads to fun and meaningful discussions that challenge me to learn more about the character of Jesus and deepen my dependence on Him. From that first night until now, I’ve been able to develop friendships with people I probably would have never met otherwise. One of my favorite things about Sozo is that the ministry doesn’t stop on Tuesday nights. We volunteer with local groups, offer meals to the homeless, pray for our city, flip pancakes until the early morning, go country dancing, and step into new adventures together.

I’ve thanked God many times for bringing this community into my life and I know He’s not done working in the city of Omaha. If you’re looking for a community of believers with a variety of faith backgrounds where you can grow your relationship with Jesus, this is a great ministry to be a part of!
